Formed in the autumn of 2011 in Glasgow, Temple Dawn quickly gathered momentum and grabbed the attention of many in a short space of time. Injecting their collective alternative rock DNA, they made their intentions clear from the outset at their first live show at Box, Glasgow. Armed with a set of just 8 completed songs they went on to leave their mark on Glasgow’s music scene.
Staying true their musical roots and going against the grain of the current indie-pop culture in Glasgow, they quickly earned a reputation as a melodic and powerful alternative rock band.
Keen to keep up the momentum, they recorded and released their first 4 track EP in February 2012. This was an instant hit with their ever increasing following and also grabbed the attentions of promoters, music reviewers and online radio stations from the UK, America and Canada.
Sticking with the plan to increase their popularity they continued with their battle in Glasgow’s music scene, performing at such venues as; The Art School, The Cathouse, Nice and Sleazy’s, Box and King Tuts Wha Wha Hut. This was also a great opportunity for them to showcase their now increasing list of songs.
In August 2012, they took part in the UK, “About to Break Tour”. This was a key moment for the band as it got them notoriety from outside Glasgow. Receiving overwhelming reviews from their performance at the Cathouse leg of the tour. They were advised to head south of the border to London by the tour organiser and promoters with an aim for the band to make a name for themselves in England.
With this in mind, Temple Dawn decided to spend the rest of 2012 writing and recording a new EP to release and perform in 2013 with dates in Manchester, Birmingham, Camden already secured. “Temple Dawn” will also feature on the UK, “About to Break Tour 2013”
After a chance meeting with one of Thistle Records A&R executives. Martin, asked him to check the band out and to see what he thought. Still only armed with their trusted 4 track online EP, Temple Dawn remained upbeat but didn’t get carried away. Impressed with what they heard, Thistle Records offered Temple Dawn a Recording Contract on the 31st of October 2012.
Temple Dawn are due to record and release their debut single ‘Shadows’ quickly followed by an album in early 2013.
Temple Dawn would like to thank everyone who has ever shown an interest in our band, bought a ticket to see us live, listened to us online and most of all, for being fans of our music.
We are all extremely excited and optimistic of what lies ahead for the band and our debut album.
Thanks for all your support,
